STRINGER OIL & LP GAS- A RICH HISTORY
Stringer Oil Company was founded in 1954 and Stringer LP Gas Company emerged in 1984. Wilson Stringer was born and raised in Anderson and after graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of South Carolina, he went on to pilot school and he served as a pilot in World War II, flying 25 missions over France and Germany. When he came back home, he worked for Esso Oil at the terminal in Belton for 15 plus years. He then pursued his own business and built a fuel oil distributorship in the community he was devoted too.
He met his love, Gladys File, in church right here in Anderson. They were married in 1952 and she gifted him 4 children that he embraced as his own.
Smitty File, the youngest of the children, graduated The University of Georgia in 1969 and went on to serve our country in the army from 1969 until 1971. He began to work with his Dad shortly after. Smitty took over the business in 2003 but they remained working together side by side.
Reagan File Bonnette, the youngest of Smittys three children, came to work for the family in 2010. She was able to work with her grandfather for four years before he was unable to come down to the office anymore. It is one of her greatest joys, working with her Dad and Grandfather.
Wilson Stringer passed away in June of 2015 at the age of 98 but his heart still remains at the core of the business in every aspect for Smitty and Reagan.
We will never be able to say thank you enough for embracing our family and business for as long as you have.
